It’s been an incredible journey watching Firmly Rooted take shape — from an idea planted in the soil of shared vision to a living, growing story of family, resilience, and hope.
We’re thrilled to share that the 20+ minute sizzle reel for Firmly Rooted is now complete! This reel captures the heart of the story we’re telling — the transformation of care for vulnerable children, the power of family, and the strength of communities coming together to ensure that every child grows up firmly rooted in love and belonging.
This shorter version — part documentary, part invitation — features powerful voices from Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda and more. Through the stories of families, social workers, and leaders walking through care reform, viewers get a glimpse of the beauty, the struggle, and the faith that drive this movement to transition orphanages, and help children find their way into permanent, loving families.
This October, our team continued filming at CAFO Summit 2025, where we were able to capture conversations with global leaders in family-based care, reflections from international partners, and the growing sense of unity among those working toward a world where children don’t grow up in orphanages, but in families.
The sizzle reel marks a major milestone — but it’s only the beginning. There are so many more stories left to tell.
Our goal is to bring a feature-length Firmly Rooted story to audiences around the world. In the coming year, we hope to submit the sizzle reel to select festivals to build awareness and invite more people into this vital conversation. To that end – we are also actively seeking funding to complete production, allowing us to capture the remaining chapters of this story — following families, leaders, and movements as they continue to grow the global work of care reform and family strengthening.
Each stage of this process has reminded us that this isn’t just a film — it’s a testimony. It’s about the quiet, faithful work happening in communities across the globe, where people are choosing empowerment over charity, family over institution, and hope over despair.
