the importance of care reform to end long term institutionalization as a means of responding to children in a family separation crisis
the inherent risks of failing to implement a global change to our response
how to plan now to respond to repeated crisis situations with family-based solutions

Listen to experts from across the globe come together in one voice to expose how a system labels vulnerable children as orphans and extends a crisis intervention meant as a temporary solution in a way that puts children at a higher risk for exploitation, trafficking, violence, teen pregnancy, drug-addition, child marriage, child labor, suicide, and a repeated cycle of generational poverty and community decay.
Collaboration
We pooled our expertise and experiences from the Global South and the Global North to expose the urgency in reforming a system that institutionalizes and segregates children from family and community, rather than treating the root of the crisis and building strong families that build generational stability and community prosperity.
